Applied Social Sciences Outstanding Teacher shared topic on “My story and journey to merge Social Science and Education beyond and within classroom”

Dr Elaine Au, Associate Professor/Assistant Head of Department of Applied Social Sciences of CityU, was invited to speak on the topic “My story and journey to merge Social Science and Education beyond and within classroom” on 8 March 2018. Dr Au received CityU “Teaching Excellence Awards" in 2014 and also received "UGC Teaching Award" in the same year.

Dr Au has made a very impressive talk on her teaching experiences in CityU; and her morphesis from a teacher to a leader on community services; raising student awareness on our social issues, as well as improving their attitude on learning.

All participating staff have a rewarding time from Elaine’s presentation as well as her Q&A.  Several useful messages participants can take away from her talk – “Teachers should be caring to our students, interact with them as a worthy individual.”; taking into account of our students’ background with many that came from housing estates, and they have already came “a long way” to CityU!
