Programme Aim

This programme aims to provide a solid foundation necessary for students to embark on a successful career in Information System, Networking, System Administration, Software Development and Multimedia Computing. The programme also aims at providing graduates with a strong knowledge base for advanced studies and further development in a rapidly changing technological environment. 

One of the main features of CityU's IE programme is that three popular professional technical trainings are integrated into the programme structure and they are:

In addition, two degree options with integrated minors are available to students admitted to the IE programme :

  • BEng (Hons) in Information Engineering (Business Intelligence Minor) 資訊工程學榮譽工學士 (副修商業智能)
  • BEng (Hons) in Information Engineering (Law Minor) 資訊工程學榮譽工學士 (副修法學)
 

Career Prospect

'Information Technology' is among the seven areas the Government has identified for focused support. In the banking, finance, business services, logistics, trading and public administration sectors, personnel with solid technology knowledge are in great demand, with increasingly complex technological applications.

  • Professional Recognition
    The programme has been accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, one of the educational requirements for obtaining Charter status. Based on the Washington Accord, graduates will receive reciprocal recognition from the equivalent bodies in Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK and the USA.
  • Job Nature of Graduates
    Computer Networking, Systems Administrator, Computer Game Programmer, Multimedia Computing, Database Administrator, System Analyst and Support, Web Application Developer, Software Engineer, Computer Services, Sales and Marketing, Research and Development, etc.
  • Graduate Employment Survey 2008
    The survey shows that 94.1% of the BEngIE graduates were engaged before the cut-off date, with 90.6% in the job market and 3.5% in full-time postgraduate studies.Click here for details.
