IT Company Visit PLUS held on 26
Mar 2008:
A total of 49 foundation year students and EE student ambassadors joined the
visit to the REACH Earth Station on 26 March 2008. They joined the other EE
professors (L M Po, Ron Chen, W S Chan, Tommy Chow, C S Leung, Bruce Tong and W
N Chau) for a hiking at Aberdeen in the afternoon. The students have had a good
chat with the professors and were amazed by the big-scale satellite antennas
field.
EE High Table Dinner held on 14 Mar 2008:
The EE High Table Dinner, organized by the EE Student Ambassadors, was successfully held on 14 March 2008 at the Staff Lounge of CityTop. The theme this year was "Brightening Your Future". Some 120 EE students, professors, alumni and renowned industrialists and entrepreneurs have participated. There were different parts of highlights including industrialist and alumni sharings on their successful stories and how they see the Engineering industry nowadays. The honorary guests have donated various big prizes for the Lucky Draw, giving another climax to end the night.
EE Student-Staff Gathering held on 3 Mar 2008:
The EE Student-Staff Gathering, organized by 20 Student Ambassadors of EE, was held on 3 Mar 2008 at the Multi-purpose Room ABC. More than a hundred and fifty EE professors and students got together to enjoy a great evening with games, violin-playing, dancing performance, dinner buffet and lucky draw.

The Departmental OBTL
Retreat held on 7 December 2007 was attended by over 50 EE staff
members and five OBTL Coordinators from FSE, BC, CS, and MA. We
were honoured to have Prof Lilian Vrijmoed (Dean of Student Learning),
Dr Louis Ma (member of UGC OBTL TF) and Dr Eva Wong (Head, EDO)
to be our guest speakers, as well as Dr Rosanne Taylor and Mr Mark
Endean to be our observers. The retreat focused on ways to motivate
students and enhance student learning.
Mainland Alumni Sharing Session held on 4 Dec 2007:
Mr Zhang Zhong and Mr Vincent Xu, now working at CSAV NorAsia and KPMG respectively, came to share their career path with our mainland students on 4 December 2007.
EE Congregation Reception 2007 held on
6 Nov 2007:
The
EE Congregation Reception 2007 was held on 6 Nov 2007. Some 1,000
graduates, parents, guests of honor and EE academics attended the
2-hour Reception and shared together the splendid moments. Programmes
included buffet lunch, prize presentation sessions, slideshow and
graduate performance.

Information Session for the Federation of Parents Teachers Associations
(FPTA) of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Sha Tin)
An Information
Session for the FPTA of the Hong Kong IVE (Shatin) was held on
2 June 2007. More than 40 students of the Department of Electronic and Information
Engineering and their parents attended the event. Video show, introduction
to the department and its programmes, alumni sharing and laboratory tours
have been scheduled.

Session for Foundation Year Students held on 25 April 2007
EE High Table Dinner held on 13 April 2007:
The EE High Table Dinner, organized by the EE Student Ambassadors, was successfully held on 13 April 2007 at the Staff Lounge of CityTop. Some 110 EE students, professors, alumni and renowned industrialists have participated. It came to the highlights when the renowned industrialist Prof K B Chan shared his topic on "The Future of Engineers" and the alumni shared their own experience on how they select their career paths.
IT Company Visits Plus on 11 April 2007:
A total of 53 foundation year students and student ambassadors joined the visit to HK Exchanges and Clearings Ltd and Reach Earth Station on 11 April 2007. After the visit to HK Exchanges and Clearings Ltd, the students joined other EE professors (L L Cheng, Ron Chen, Tommy Chow, K T Ko, K T Ng, K F Tsang and Keith Zhang) for a hiking at Repulse Bay in the afternoon. Students were amazed at the marvelous scenery at the mountain top as well as the satellite antennas field. This is the first time the Department has organised an activity that combined technical visit with healthy physical exercise!

The EE Student-Staff Gathering, organized by some 25 Student Ambassadors of EE, was held on 13 Feb 2007 at the Multi-purpose Halls ABC. More than a hundred EE professors and students got together to enjoy a great evening with games, band show, drama, piano-playing and dinner buffet.
CityU nurtures budding electronics experts:
The Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) are jointly organizing the University-based Electronics Technology Project Study (UETPS) 2006-07. Twenty-three gifted secondary school students with outstanding potential in electronics technology finished the University-based Electronics Technology Project Study 2006-07 on 17 March. Twelve students selected topics from suggestions put forward by Professor Henry Chung Shu-hung, Dr Peter Tsang Wai-ming and Dr Cheng Lee-ming. They guided their students' research on an AC-socket with status indicator and over-current protection; the development of a 3D cyber world on the Internet and smart card applications. The Closing Ceremony was held on 17 March 2007.
