Prof Hong Yan elected Fellow of IEEE, the 7th EE professor honoured
Professor Hong Yan has just been elected Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE) for 2006. His citation reads "For contributions to image recognition techniques and applications".
IEEE is an international professional association with more than 377,000 individual members from 150 countries. Every year, less than 0.1% of its members worldwide are elected Fellows. The honours is conferred only to eminent scientists with extraordinary credentials, experience and contributions in IEEE designated fields. Prof Yan has been with us for six years since 1999 and this is a recognition of his work done at CityU. CityU-EE now boasts 7 IEEE Fellows, a record breaker among all CS, EE, EEE and EIE departments in Hong Kong!
