| Fri 8 December | 2.00 pm Industrial visit organised by Hong Kong Productivity Centre | ||||
The two keynote spekaers were: Karlheinz Brandenburg, renowned expert on electronic music distribution (one of the 'fathers' of MP3), and Bob Frankston, who developed the idea of (Internet) connected appliances - IP Everywhere - when with Microsoft. They will be presenting two half-day workshops as part of the main symposium programme.
Hong Kong has a plethora of hotels of all grades. The conference venue is in the centre of the Kowloon peninsula, at the main public traansport interchange. As dozens of hotels are available within a few minutes travelling time, and airlines and as travel companies offer superb discounts when booked outside Hong Kong, the organisers have not arranged a list of specific conference hotels. The choice is up to the individual delegate.
However, if any delegate has difficulties in booking, we will pass the request for accommodation to a local travel agent who deals with such things on our behalf.
CONFERENCE VENUE
The conference venue will be the new, city centre, campus of City University of Hong Kong.
The basic registration fee is US$260 per person (HK$2000). This will include all documentation, lunches, banquet, and other social activities. The workshop/tutorial sessions are US$96 (HK$750) per session including lunch and documentation. Registration can be made online, or by downloading the registration form (.pdf) and faxing or mailing to the number/address given.
Payment can be made by cheque on a Hong Kong bank, International Money order in HK$, or by Visa. A credit card form is available.
Full time students will be allowed a special reduced attendance fee of HK$1000 for the conference, and HK$400 for the workshops. This reduced fee does not include the conference banquet, or workshop lunch if booked separately. A letter from the academic supervisor must be presented at registration.
ACTIVITIES FOR NON-ATTENDING PARTNERS
As Hong Kong is a popular tourist destination, we are arranging for a local tour company to organise half- and full-day trips for partners who are not attending the symposium. details of these will be announced later. The banquet and reception will cost US$50 (HK$390) for non-attending partners. Please indicate when booking if required.
