"Science and Technology Workshops - Seven Wonders of Electronics" is one of the activities orgnaized by the Department of Electronic Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. The aim of these workshops is to enable secondary school students to appreciate through ample hand-on experiment how modern technologies work to change our daily life.
One of the seven workshops, which named "The Wonder of Digital Technology" , is being carried out in Computer Systems Laboratory. In this workshop, a brief seminar is given to students first in order to introduce some basic principles of digital electronics and their application examples in our dialy life. Thereafter, an introduction to some popular electronic components is also provided such that students acquire the basic knowledge to connecting electonic components to form a circuitry.
The picture below illustrates the outlook of completed circuit boards of electronic devices and interconnection among them.One board is connected to the computer parallel port such that once any key(s) of the keypad board is/are being pressed, the device of respective circuit board will be turned on / off accordingly.
