Is this software suite free for everyone ?
No. This software suite free for individuals to use, copy, distribute, and modify (including distribution of modified versions) for non-profit purposes only.

When the mobile client program reports your current location to the desktop server / you query the other people' locations on your mobile phone your mobile network operator may charge you fee. The charge is depending on your service plan. For detail, please call your mobile network operator.

In using abnormal stopping alert function, if the receiver is not using the same telecom operator at yours, a cost will be charge on each internetwork SMS.

You can turn off both location reporting and abnormal stopping alert function to prevent additional charge. But you must take the risk yourself.

This software suite works on the whole world, you only need to import the correct calibrated map images files set into both desktop server / mobile client program.

This software suite is mainly designed for outdoor activities, but you still also use it to track the people who are suffering from dementia, your pet, car etc.

If I stay at an area without mobile data network covering, will this software suite work ?
When you leave the mobile data network covering, the mobile client program can't report your current location to the desktop server. Also, you can't query other people' locations. But you still can use it as a GPS mapping device. Once you enter the mobile data network again, the mobile client program will send out your current location to the desktop server again.

When the GPS signal lost, what will the mobile client report ?
Usually the GPS receiver will report its latest location value which before the GPS signal lost, so the mobile client program will show the latest location value. But the exact result may different due to differnt GPS receiver.

To ensure the location value, you see the "accuracy" & number of satellite in information page in the mobile client program. Also, the desktop server will show the DPOD value of the reported data.

Which one is better for this software suite, GPRS or 3G ?
The transmission data size is very small, there is no obvious different between GPRS and 3G. But We suggest to use GPRS due to stability and price.

What is the positioning accuracy of this software suite ?
The GPS without DGPS/ WAAS enabled can provide the accuracy at ~10M shift on the theory. But, the actual positioning accuracy depends on the weather, signal cover, the receiver sensitivity and the calibrate error on the map.

Does this software suite come with map(s) ?
Due to (c) 2008, we can't provide any map source. You must find it yourself.

What types of cellar phones does this software suite support ?
Most of Java-able models with bluetooth capability should able to run. We have tested the program successfully on Motorola E2, Nokia 6120c and SE K810i with external bluetooth GPS receiver.

For the Java-able models with Integrated GPS / AGPS module, you can try the beta version. It works on your internal module, no external bluetooth GPS receiver needed.

What types of GPS devices does this software suit support ?
Any bluettooth interface GPS receiver that can be discovered and can output NMEA1083 standard senstences.

Does the mobile client program support DGPS / WAAS etc ?
It depends on your GPS receiver, not the mobile client program.

If I don't have any GPS device, can I use this software suite ?
Yes, but it is just a pure map on mobile phone only in this case. Besides, you can still query the other people' locations.

Can the desktop server program work on Linux ?
The desktop server is mainly designed for MS Windows. On theory, the program should work, besides the abnormal stopping SMS function due to serial port driver problem.

If you tested it on Linux, please let me know the result. Thanks.

Can I use my home computer to host the software suit GoogleMaps function ?
Yes. But you have a domain name first, because GoogleMaps 's licence key bases on domain name and the key is only valid on that domain.

Some ISPs distribute a temporary domain name with the IP to their customers, go start menu > run > cmd > ipconfig /all to check it at "Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :" . For example, it shows pc123456789.netvigator.com, and then you can use netvigator.com to sign the GoogleMaps 's licence key. For detail see the manual.

What is the maxmium size of the map images file set that I can pack into the mobile client jar file ?
The functionable size is depending on your mobile phone. Different models will have different results. We have tested ~80MB jar sucessfully on Motorola E2 and Nokia 6120c.

Why my mobile phone hangs while installing or starting the mobile client program ?
Actually, it may be "running". The installing / starting time are vary between models.
A ~80MB size jar file, Nokia 6120c (Symbian 60 3rd edition) needs >5minutes (install) / ~2minutes(start) while Motorola E2 (Linux) needs <20 seconds (install) / < 10 seconds (start).

If it "hangs" too long time, you can reduce the map image files set size to limit the problem first.

Why the mobile client can't connect to the desktop server ?
Usually the traffic blocked by your desktop firewall or wrong port forward setting in broadband router(if any). Sometimes, it is blocked by your ISP, eg, PCCW blocks income port 80/ 25.
