The 2006 IEEE Information Theory workshop aims to explore current topics in the areas of coding and information theory. Possible topics include, but are not necessarily limited to: error control coding, iterative decoding and detection techniques, data compression, joint source and channel coding, quantum-theoretical aspects of coding, network coding, space-time codes, multi-user and MIMO systems.

The workshop will be held as a single-session event over 3 1/2 days, including a half day excursion to the Giant Panda Base and Sanxingdui Wonder. The event would start on the evening of Sunday Oct. 22th with a drinks and nibbles reception and would conclude at lunchtime on Thursday Oct. 26th, giving the delegates a weekend to go to Jiu Zhai Gou or other World Cultural and Natural Heritage listed sites around Chengdu city.

Presentations are expected to include both invited and contributed papers. Poster sessions are also planned and a special session for researchers from China to present their recent results is being considered.

The workshop will be held at Chengdu California Garden Hotel (http://www.ecccn.com/), which is one of the most competitive luxurious hotels in downtown Chengdu, located in Chengdu International Exhibition and Convention Center (CIECC,). The hotel is conveniently located in the eastern wing of the CIECC. Distance from the airport is 22km and distance from the railway station is 2km.
