Mr. Ng was born in Hong Kong. He obtained
his B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering in 1983 from the University
of Western Australia, Australia. His graduate thesis entitled “A New Metal
Semi-Insulator Silicon Switch” had led to the invention of a new MISS device
suitable for industrial applications. During the summer vacation, he was
employed by Agnew Clough Limited of Australia as an Assistant Engineer.
After that he chose to pursue a postgraduate education at the University
of Sydney in Australia. Throughout his postgraduate study, he worked as
tutor and laboratory demonstrator in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
There he earned his M.Eng. Sc. degree in 1987 on the analysis of the frequency
spectrum of acoustic signals.
He returned to Hong Kong in 1987 and joined National Semiconductor (HK) Limited as a Product Engineer. Shortly after this, he was promoted to Senior Test Development Engineer as a result of his excellent performance work. At the same time, due to his great interest in academic affairs, he worked for Hong Kong Polytechnic as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering.
He joined the City University of Hong Kong in 1989. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering and Deputy Director of the Data Communications Laboratory, a Continuing Education Liaison Officer and the B.Sc. degree in Information Technology Academic Advicer.
He had worked intensively in different phases of computer communications
system implementations; namely, communication systems design, systems integration/configuration,
system developments and tests, application software design and implementations.
His current research interests are on the study of real-time on-line emulations
of computer networks and acoustic signal processing.
