Nov 17, 2019: Final Report Submission

According to the special arrangement of CityU in the assessment of the course without the final exam, the final grade of EE5806 will be based on only two assignments, mid-term exam and the group project. In addition, the assessment of the group project is based only on the final report as well as the presentation PPT, source code and demo video (optional). Remind students that the deadline for submitting the final report is December 2, 2019 (Week 14). Here are the details of the requirements for the final report submission:
  • Write a final report of the project with format similar to a research conference paper in two-column format with not less than 8 pages (not including references).
  • The IEEE conference paper templates are available here and here is the A4 Template
  • Students are also required to submit the source code and PPT for assessement.
  • All the PPT, Final Report and Source Code are required to submit to course gmail account at cityuee5806@gmail.com
  • The subject of your email should satisfy the following format:
    EE5806 Project Final Report - Group Number: Project Title
    Example: EE5806 Project Final Report - Group 7 : Digits Recognition Framework Based on Machine Learning

Nov 14, 2019: Cancellation of Make-up Lecture and Project Presentation

According to the special arrangement of the university, the makeup class on Friday and the group project oral presentation classes on the 12th and 13th week were cancelled. Details of the new assessment method will be announced shortly.

Nov 11, 2019: Make-up Lecture

Due to the cancellation of today's class, we will have a make-up class at MP Lab (YEUNG-P1402) from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2019.

Nov 11, 2019: Group Project Oral Presentation

  • Students are reminded to well prepare for their course project presentation on week 12 or 13 sessions for showing your finings and results within a 15-mintues oral presentation.
  • Live demonstration or video demonstration are highly encouraged.
  • All members of the project teams are required to involved in their presentation.

The subject of your email should satisfy the following format:

Oct 28, 2019: E-Mail Submission Problems

We just realized that our course gmail account has problems communicating with mainland email services such as qqmail and 163mail. Please avoid using these email addresses to submit your assignments or reports.

In addition, we also encountered problems in replying to the email of CityU's email address @ad.cityu.edu.hk. Please use the domain name @my.cityu.edu.hk.

In this course, students will learn the basic principles and tools on how to create, alter and store digital images and video. Students will also learn how to apply digital image processing techniques on solving practical problems of commercial and scientific interests by implementing algorithms in Python.

  • Lecture attendance: Required. You are responsible for whatever is taught in the lecture and tutorial.

  • Submission of Assignments and Project Reports:
    1. Hardcopies are not required.
    2. Softcopies such as MS-Word file, Presentation, Source Code and associated files are required to send to the course gmail account before 11:00PM of the due date.

  • Late Submission:
    1. Assignments and project reports mush be received by the course email account before 11:00PM on the due date.
    2. NO late homework is accepted without previous arrangement with the instructor.
    3. If approved, late homework receives 10% per business day penalty.
    4. Write your name and student number on the top right corner of the paper.
    5. Write your answers legibly and derive all of the steps to show your work clearly.
    6. No credits will be given to answers without showing the steps.
    7. Students may work together on the homework, but copying is unacceptable.

  • Cheating: In particular copying your fellow classmate's assignments or programs, is a very serious offense! If you are found cheating, you will automatically get an F grade in this course and your act will be reported to the Department for necessary disciplinary actions. Please don't let others copy your assignments or programs as we don't have a way to tell who is copying who and you may be liable to the penalties.
