FPT'10 >> Special Session

The 2010 International Conference on
Field-Programmable Technology (FPT'10)

Special Session on
Reconfigurable Computing in China: Applications and Design Methods

With the increasing scale of computer clusters, power consumption and heat dissipation have become the biggest obstacles to meet the ever growing computing needs. Based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), Reconfigurable Computing can be very effective to improve the energy efficiency of computing, by analyzing the specific data pattern and algorithm, and designing specific hardware architecture with customized computing platforms.

Driven by real world applications, reconfigurable computing in China has become an emerging research area. International Conference on Field Programmable Technology (International Conference on Field Programmable Technology 2010) is the first major FPGA conference held in China. Thus, this is a great opportunity to bring reconfigurable computing researchers in China together with global peers. Therefore, this session will focus on recent progresses happening in China on important applications and design methodologies of reconfigurable computing.

As part of FPT'10, we solicit original research papers from researchers located in China with special interest in the following topics:

  • Important reconfigurable computing applications in industry, such as Internet infrastructure, large scale web services and cloud computing
  • Bridging the computation requirement and capability gap in academic research, such as biological information analysis
  • Design tools and novel architectures for reconfigurable computing

Papers should be submitted to the Special Session on Reconfigurable Computing in China: Applications and Design Methods using the FPT'10 submission system.
