Dr. Sze-Chun Chan received the B.Eng. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2004 and 2007, respectively. During his graduate study, he specialized in photonics with emphasis on both experiments and simulations of high-speed semiconductor lasers. His Ph.D. research on photonic microwave applications of laser dynamics received the Dr. Bor-Uei Chen Scholarship of the Photonics Society of Chinese-Americans in 2007. Upon graduation, Dr. Chan joined the City University of Hong Kong as Assistant Professor in Electronic Engineering.

His research interests include laser nonlinear dynamics, microwave photonics, radio-over-fiber, optical chaos generation, and novel applications of semiconductor lasers.
