Programme
Aim
The Master
of Science in Multimedia Information Technology is a taught postgraduate
engineering programme specialized in the processing, storage,
retrieval, communication and visualization of multimedia information.
The programme
provides well-structured training for IT professionals who want
to keep abreast with the dynamics in multimedia and information
technology. It aims at equipping students with in-depth knowledge
of the state-of-the-art multimedia information technology and
the necessary skills to meet the needs from the community. On
completion of the programme, students with different technical
backgrounds and aspirations can:

a strong theoretical foundation in multimedia systems and applications,
mobile computing, Internet computing and networking;

acquire
analytical ability that enables them to conduct high-level research
and development in the rapidly changing IT industry;

enhance
their capacity to continue professional and career development

What
will you be studying ?
MSMIT with BM (Implemented on Semester B 2006/07)
Students must complete a total of 36
CUs of which :
9 CUs of EE required courses
15 CUs of technical elective courses *where no more than
6 CUs of Group II electives
12 CUs from BM electives
Minimum 18 CUs of EE courses (including the required
courses)
MSMIT (Implemented on Semester A
2007/08)
Students must complete a total of 33
CUs of which :
9 CUs of EE required courses
24 CUs of technical elective courses * where no more than 6 CUs of Group
II electives
No more than 6 CUs of BM electives
Minimum 18 CUs of EE courses (including the required courses)
PGD (Implemented on Semester A 2007/08)
Students who have earned 24 CUs and
fulfilled the following programme requirements may apply in writing for
conferment of the PGD award if they do not intend to complete the full
programme.

Continuing
Education Fund (For self-financing students only)
The CEF support is applicable to students in the self-financing
mode only. The following courses
have been included in the reimbursable course list of the Continuing Education
Fund (CEF). Successful applicants
can apply for reimbursement of up to 80% of the course fee, subject to
a maximum ceiling of 2 claims and a maximum limit of HK$10,000 within
two years after the application is approved.

required to pay the full tuition fee by 12 Oct 2006, please write
down "HK$7,140 (The payment due date for this course is 12
October 2006) " for each course at the "Actual Tuition
Fees Paid" item in the application form.

To be able to obtain reimbursement
from the CEF Office, you MUST satisfy ALL of the following completion
requirements:

A minimum attendance rate of 75% (Students should
sign on the attendance record during class)

A passing final grade of the course
·
A receipt showing that you have settled the tuition
fee before the due date |

2. |
The EE/CS General Office will
send instructions for lodging claims to students via email in week
12.

Please complete the Reimbursement Claim Form provided
by the CEF office in the approval-in-principle letter.
·
Then drop the Reimbursement Form together with a self-addressed
stamped envelope into the Collection Box at the EE/CS General
Office or send it by post to Ms Susana Tsui, Department of Electronic
Engineering, City University of Hong Kong OR Miss Amy Lo/Miss CoCo

Credit
Transfer
Students with appropriate background and
qualifications may apply for credit transfer upon admission.

The application
must be made within the prescribed application period of the University
during the first semester in Year 1. |

Normally
only credit transfer for the required course(s) will be considered.
Nevertheless, PGD students may be granted up to 100% credit transfer
if they are re-admitted to the MSMIT programme. |

qualifications for supporting the credit transfer application should
