On 1978, he moved to Westmead Hospital. He was responsible for the operation of the Biomedical Engineering Section and was involved in the commissioning of various pieces of medical equipment for the, then, newly-established teaching hospital. He took an interest in R&D and was responsible for the design of a heart mapping machine which enabled the pioneering of the successful medical procedure for bundle branch block. In 1980, he moved to Telecom Australia and started his career in communications. During his stay with Telecom, he spent most of his time with the Switching Design and Support Section where he was involved in various design projects and deficiency investigations. He was also responsible for the New South Wales State Micro Support Centre under the state design laboratory.
He moved to the Corporate Customer Division in 1987 and joined the Tran$Send project implementation team. In 1989, he joined the City University of Hong Kong where he is currently an Assistant Professor. He has followed closely the evolution of communications technology and is actively pursuing the latest development in communications.
