Dr. Yan Wei was born in Wuhan, China. She received both of her B. Sc. and M.A. Sc. degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China and her Ph. D. degree from University of Toronto, Canada in 1982 ,1987 and 1996 respectively, all in electrical engineering. She was a teaching assistant then lecturer in Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1982-1988. She went to Toronto and worked as a Computer Programmer/Analyst in Department of Pharmacology, University of Toronto, Canada in 1989-1992. She joined Singapore Polytechnic as a lecturer in the department of electrical engineering in 1996-1998. At the end of 1998, she joined City University of Hong Kong, where she worked as a senior research assistant, research fellow, senior research fellow, and currently a lecturer. Her current research interests include gas discharge modeling and applications, computer-aided simulation techniques, and power electronic applications.
