Professional Background:

City University of Hong Kong is a public university offering undergraduate and graduate courses to individuals wishing to increase their education. Located in Kowloon, the University contains the faculties of Science, Engineering, Business, and Law and provides specialized courses and unique opportunities for students to learn both in the classroom and in the field. As an Associate Professor, Dr. Chow offers instruction and research supervision for students in the electronic and optoelectronic fields. He oversees lab work, co-ordinates with other educators to establish curriculum, and offers advisement to students. Dr. Chow was given the opportunity to plan and establish the Laboratories specifically for the Optoelectronics Research Centre, introducing new technology to provide current education to students and researchers. In addition to his professorial duties, Dr. Chow has been involved in research of integrated waveguides for telecommunications and sensors, the nonlinear effects in the waveguides and fibers, as well as rare-earth doped waveguide lasers and diode pumped solid state lasers. Dr. Chow petitions the Government and the University for funding for research projects. He was awarded over HK$4,000,000 for the funding of his research. Enjoying his success, Dr. Chow intends to continue educating students and researching new technology. In his spare time, Dr. Chow is currently involved in the establishment of a radio control model helicopter flying club in Hong Kong.
