Dr K F Tsang, Associate Professor of EE, has recently received the 2021 IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES) Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions towards standards development. The IEEE PSES focuses on the theory, design, development and practical implementation of product safety engineering methodologies and techniques for equipment and devices.

Dr Ray Cheung has been granted HK$1.49 million by the Gifted Education Fund, Education Bureau for the programme “AIoT Coding, Engineering and Entrepreneurial (AIoT CE2) Skills Education for Gifted Students” which aims to equip the gifted students with the knowledge and skills in solving authentic problems in daily life with AI and IoT. Participating students will also be given the opportunity to showcase their projects at exhibition and join a start-up project pitching competition.

Dr Ray Cheung has won the Innovative CityU-Learning Awards – Semester A 2021/22 for the learning initiative called “AIoT Coding and Engineering Skills Education for Gifted Students”. The Awards, introduced with the University’s implementation of CityU-Learning, aim to recognize innovative approaches implemented towards enhancing the quality of online and/or hybrid learning at CityU. All current CityU full-time academic faculty and teaching staff are eligible to place applications which are reviewed by the Innovative CityU-Learning Awards Selection Panel. Prof CHE Wenquan, PhD graduate of 2004, has been elected IEEE Fellow for her contributions to planar transmission line structures for microwave passive components. During her studies with EE, Prof Che specialized in microwave nonreciprocal latching ferrite devices under the supervision of Prof Edward Yung. Prof Che is now the Professor of School of Electric and Information Engineering, South China University of Technology.
