PhD Student Winning HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers 2020

PhD student, Mr AGADAGBA Stephen Kugbere has been awarded the HKIE Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers 2020 for his paper “Modulation of Narrowband and Broadband Gamma Connectivity in Retinal Degeneration Mice According to Electrical Stimulation Pulse Width”, which was supervised by Dr Leanne Chan. A total of three papers have been awarded this year and Mr Agadagba is one the award recipients.

This is the 15th consecutive year that the Institution organizes this international competition to encourage young engineers and researchers from worldwide aged 35 or below to publish their works and advance in their professional fields. It also serves to promote the engineering advancement among the younger generation as a whole.

Winning the First Prize of Best Student Paper Award at the 2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference of Antennas and Propagation

PhD student, Mr DING Chen, has won the First Prize of Best Student Paper Award at the 2020 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference of Antennas and Propagation (APCAP). The winning paper, supervised by Prof K M Luk, is titled “Rotation-Free Phaseless Far-Field Gain Measurement of Linearly polarized Antennas Using Artificial Anisotropic Polarizers”.

APCAP is an international forum for the exchange of information on the progress and recent advancements in the research and development of innovative antenna technology and radio wave propagation. The 9th APCAP originally scheduled to be held in Xiamen, China was held online on 4 -7 August 2020 due to the COVID-19. There were 8 prizes (First/Second/Third Prize) presented and our student is the only one to receive the First Prize of the Best Student Paper Award.

Winning 1st Runner-up in CTF OPEN 2019 – Student Category

Eight teams were selected to join the grand final of CTF OPEN 2019 (Student Category) which was held on 22 March 2020. A team of INFE students, namely Mr Chan Man Hong (Yr-4), Mr Kwong Kai Man (Yr-4), Mr Tseung Mak Man (Yr-3) and Mr Wong Ka Chung (Yr-3), has won the 1st runner-up in the competition under the supervision of Dr Alan Yeung.

CTF OPEN 2019 is organized by HK CTF Association. CTF (Capture The Flag) is a kind of information security competition that challenges contestants to solve a variety of tasks ranging from a scavenger hunt on Wikipedia to basic programming exercises to hacking your way into a server to steal data. In these challenges, the contestant is usually asked to find a specific piece of text that may be hidden on the server or behind a webpage.
