EXAMPLE 1

Consider the nonlinear system:

0 = x2 -2x -y +0.5

0 = x2 + 4y2 - 4

Use Newton’s method with the starting value (p0, q0) = (2.00, 0.25) and compute (p1, q1), (p2, q2), and (p3, q3).
