Programme Information Session 2022 for Direct Applicants

Four Programme Information Sessions were arranged to prospective direct applicants (non-JUPAS) for the programmes offered by Department of Electrical Engineering (1205, 1573A, 1585A, 1597A, 1703A) between 12 and 28 October 2022. Students from UOW College Hong Kong, HKU Space Community College, PolyU HK Community College, and Vocational Training Council (Haking Wong & Shatin) attended.

In the Information Session, the Admission Tutor Dr Leanne Chan introduced to the students and teachers about the department and its programmes, admission information and the discipline prospects. In addition, sharing was done enthusiastically by our current EE students and alumni on their University life and different learning experiences.

JS1205 Programme Information Session and Interviews plus Special Recruitment Session 2022

This year, JUPAS Programme Information Session and Student Interviews were held on 8 July 2022. Around 280 F.6 students who were serious in their final choice of studies joined the event. The event started with an inspirational talk and programme information session by Dr Alex Wong and Dr Ray Cheung. Then we invited 3 students to share about their university life, different enriching learning opportunities and EE recent job market. The event ended with breakout group interviews with our EE faculty.

During the event, all participants showed their enthusiasm in studying EE and how they were impressed by the prevailing technologies and their applications.

A Special Recruitment Session in mixed mode was held on 15 July 2022 for a more in-depth exchange and sharing. Our Head of EE Department Prof Stella Pang kick-started the session, followed by an alumni sharing, chit-chats with student ambassadors and a lab tour to our State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves or Team Projects Laboratory.

Admission Interview and Information Session 2022 for Local Direct Applicants

Eight sessions of admission interviews and information sessions were arranged for prospective local non-JUPAS (direct) applicants by Department of Electrical Engineering. The early round admission interviews have been conducted between Dec 2021 and March 2022 and the main round from April to June 2022. About 267 students mainly from UOW College Hong Kong (the former Community College of CityU), HKU Space Community College, PolyU HK Community College, and Vocational Training Council participated. The Admission Tutors Dr Leanne Chan and Dr Alex Wong introduced to the students about the department, her programmes, and admission information; while our current EE students were so enthusiastic to share their University life and various learning experiences with the participants. Group interviews were conducted on the days.

CityU Undergraduate Open Day 2022

CityU Undergraduate Open Day 2022 was successfully held on 19 March 2022. The EE Department had three live online sessions throughout the day, including “Fun with Microcontrollers!” by Dr Andy Chan, “AIoT Show-and-tell” by Dr Ray Cheung and “Glass antennas for Wireless Communications!” by Prof K W Leung.

The sessions aroused the interests of secondary students in EE, and showed how our EE undergraduate programmes prepare students for the future.
