CityUHK EE Launches Joint Lab Phase 9 with Six Leading Enterprises
The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully hosted the Joint Lab Phase 9 Ceremony on 8 January 2026, welcoming over 70 participants onsite and online. The event marked another milestone in the Joint Lab programme, which has been fostering academia–industry collaboration since 2019.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. C. K. Michael Tse, Associate Vice-President (Innovation) and Director of the CityU Academy of Innovation, alongside a welcome address by Prof. Z. Y. Dong, Head of EE. Prof. Dong highlighted the importance of internships in preparing students for professional careers, encouraging partners to continue offering opportunities that provide hands-on experience and industry exposure.
Phase 9 introduced six new partners: Changan, Iluvatar CoreX, Megmeet, Rivai, RVOH, and SenseTime, expanding the programme to 52 participating institutions. These collaborations will drive cooperative projects, knowledge transfer, and talent cultivation, reinforcing CityUHK’s mission to nurture innovation and excellence.
The event also spotlighted the CityUHK EE Strategic Research Centre and opportunities for enterprises to support through donations. Sengital Group shared their commitment to collaboration and working on a donation agreement with CityUHK EE.

CityUHK Information Day 2025
CityUHK Information Day was held on 4 October 2025, drawing thousands of prospective students and parents eager to explore the world of Electrical Engineering. Our vibrant exhibition booth, engaging programme talks, and captivating laboratory tours offered visitors an exciting glimpse into our majors, career opportunities, student life, and the dynamic learning environment at CityUHK-EE.
It was truly rewarding to see visitors inspired and impressed by the innovative projects created by our talented professors and students. We look forward to seeing them again on campus studying our majors in September 2026.

EE Student Orientation 2025
We were thrilled to kick off the new academic year by warmly welcoming our incoming students to the Electrical Engineering (EE) family! The EE Student Orientation took place on three exciting days: August 26, 2025, for our undergraduate students, August 28, 2025, for master’s students, and September 3, 2025, for PhD candidates.
It was a joy to see nearly 400 bright and enthusiastic students gathering on campus, ready to embark on their academic and research journeys. Throughout the orientation, students engaged in a series of dynamic and informative sessions designed to introduce them to the Department’s vibrant community, comprehensive programmes, student learning resources, and promising career paths after graduation.
We extend our heartfelt welcome to all new EE students and look forward to supporting you every step of the way. Wishing them all a fulfilling, inspiring, and successful journey ahead with Electrical Engineering!

The JUPAS Programme Information Session cum Group Interviews 2025
The JUPAS Programme Information Session cum group interviews were successfully conducted on 4 July 2025, with approximately 417 F.6 students who had selected JS1205 as one of their preferred areas of study. These students were serious in their final choice of studies and participated this event.
The event commenced with an inspirational talk and programme information session by Prof. Alex Wong and Prof. Katie Chan. They provided an overview of our programme, highlighting the successes of our EE graduates and the growth of the EE sector in the recent job market. Subsequently, the students were divided into groups. They were given a demonstration of robots by our RoboCon team, and a sharing session by our graduate. Parallel sessions of group interviews were also arranged.
During the event, all students expressed their enthusiasm for studying EE and their admiration for the latest technologies and their applications.

Commencement 2025 – EE Sessions
We are thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2025 at the Commencement of EE Sessions held on 16 June 2025! The event was a vibrant gathering of approximately 280 graduates, their families, friends, and EE professors, all coming together to share happiness in this momentous occasion.
Adding to the excitement, the ceremony also featured the presentation of the EE Annual Awards, honoring the remarkable achievements of outstanding EE alumni and recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the Department. The day concluded on a joyful note with graduates and professors capturing memories through group photos, marking a wonderful end to a truly special celebration.

CityUHK JUPAS Consultation Day 2025
CityUHK JUPAS Consultation Day was held on 17 May 2025. EE faculty and student ambassadors were there to share with high school students and DSE candidates how Electrical Engineering shapes the world, the learning experiences offered by the Department, and the career outlook of the discipline.
A programme talk was also delivered by Prof Katie Chan (Admission Tutor) to advise programme highlights, the promising career prospects of EE graduates, and CityUHK’s flexible admission arrangement and admission tips.

EE Final Year Project Competition 2025
The Final Year Project (FYP) Competition was successfully held on 14 May 2025. This year, six projects were shortlisted to enter the Final in way of poster presentation. All contestants were enthusiastic and professional in introducing their innovative and novel ideas in their project works. They also addressed all questions from the judges professionally.
The judging team for FYP competition this year was composed of our Adjunct Professor from industry and five faculty judges.

CityUHK EE Collaborates with Six Globally-renowned Enterprises to Establish the Eighth Joint Laboratory, Jointly Cultivating Global Innovative Technology Talents
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) - Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) established the CityUHK Electrical Joint Laboratory with six well-known technology enterprises, including Alta Sicuro, AusMed, Autotoll, GOOGOLTECH, LiPOWER and Locobike on May 8, 2025, to jointly promote scientific research and knowledge technology transfer, and cultivate global technology talents. Over 70 participants joined onsite and online for this event.
The CityUHK EE Joint Lab programme has been established since 2019, together with the newly joint partners in phase 8, the number of participating institutions in the programme has increased to 46. A series of cooperative and technical projects have been/will be launched with these partners.

CityUHK-EE marks three decades of leading-edge innovation
The Department of Electrical Engineering celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Technical Seminar on "Generative AI Technology and Applications", a Research Student Poster Competition highlighted student research excellence, and a 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner honored the department’s achievements in education and innovation on 14 March 2025.
