Openings

I am looking for self-motivated Ph.D. students/Postdoc fellows to work together on 6G research directions including but not limited to the following:

. Near-field wireless communications and localization
. Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC)
. Reconfigurable antenna-enabled communications
. Machine learning for communications
. Distributed learning

Students with strong backgrounds in wireless communications, signal processing, mathematical optimization, and machine learning are encouraged to apply. If you are interested in joining us, please send your CV, transcript, and ranking to alex.yu@cityu.edu.hk. A post in Chinese can also be found here.

Biography

I received my B.Eng. degree in information engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Wei Xu. In Aug. 2018, I received my Ph.D. degree in electronic and computer engineering (ECE) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, China, under the supervision of Prof. Khaled B. LETAIEF. I am currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong, China. From 2018 - 2020, I was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow with the Institute for Digital Communications, Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Erlangen, Germany, hosted by Prof. Robert Schober. Before joining CityU, I was a Research Assistant Professor with the ECE Department at HKUST. My research interests include millimeter-wave communications, MIMO systems, mathematical optimization, large intelligent surface-assisted communications, and stochastic geometry. I co-authored the book Stochastic Geometry Analysis of Multi-Antenna Wireless Networks (Springer, 2019). I also received the IEEE GLOBECOM 2017 Best Paper Award, the 2018 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award, the IEEE GLOBECOM 2019 Best Paper Award, the 2023 IEEE Communications Society Leonard G. Abraham Prize, and the 2024 IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award. I am an Editor of IEEE Communications Letters and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.
