The CityU Underwater Robotics Team has won the Third Prize in the 3rd Underwater Robot Competition which was held in Shanghai, China (第三屆上海“臨港杯”水下智慧型機器人大賽). The following winning team, comprising five EE students and four students from Department of Computer Science, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering, is supervised by Dr Ray Cheung (Associate Professor, EE), Dr Angus Wu (Assistant Professor, EE), Dr Pakpong Chirarattananon (Assistant Professor, Biomedical Engineering) and Dr Yajing Shen (Assistant Professor, Biomedical Engineering).

24 teams joined the competition this year including top mainland universities such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University and Shanghai Maritime University.
