Two PhD students, Mr. CHUI Kwok Tai and Mr. LI Yee Shing Benjamin, together with an ECE graduate, Mr. CHOW Wai Hei, have received the 2nd Prize Award in the 2014 IEEE Region 10 Student Paper Contest (Post-Graduate Category). The winning paper, supervised by Dr. Kim Fung Tsang and Prof. Henry Shu Hung Chung, is called "Driver Fatigue Detection using A Novel ECG based Drowsiness Detection Algorithm with Head Distraction Detection".
The IEEE Region 10 Student Activities Committee conducts two student paper contests every year, one for the Postgraduate (PG) and the other for the Undergraduate (UG) IEEE Student Members in the Region. The papers are judged based on the technical content, Innovation, practical implementation, references and overall presentation.
