Three EE students WU Haotian (ECE; 2013 entering major), LIU Xinhong (INFE; 2013 entering major) and IP Wai Kei (CE; 2012 entering major) teamed up with three other CS students in two teams and won the Third Prize in the 2014 Intel Cup Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest-Embedded System Design Invitational Contest held in Shanghai. The supervisor of the teams is Dr Tan Chee Wei, Assistant Professor (CS).
2014 Intel Cup Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest-Embedded System Design Invitational Contest, (Intel Cup Embedded System Design Contest: ESDC), initiated by the PRC Government, is hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and solely sponsored by Intel Corporation. Held every 2 years, the contest provides an opportunity for top undergraduate students to design a working system based on an assigned Intel embedded platform over a period of three months. Designs can apply to any device that could be used in a real-world application, such as in the home, automobile, medical, industrial, or other industries. It encourages improvement of the curriculum structure and content in the disciplines of Information Technology and Electronics, promotes implementation of well-rounded education within higher education institutions, and fosters innovation skills amongst students.
