EEHS Internship Sharing
Electrical Engineering Honor Society (EEHS) organized an Internship Sharing for all EE students on 8 October 2021 via Zoom.
The sharing invited four speakers from different companies/institutions to share their internship experiences. All the participants enjoyed the sharing and found it’s very useful as this is an opportunity to enhance their understanding about career prospects as well as make better plans for their near future.

Electrical Engineering Honor Society (EEHS) and Electrical Engineering Student Chapter (EESC) - Green Tomato Company Visit
EEHS and EESC organized a half-day company visit at Green Tomato (GT) on 24 September 2021. In this visit, students knew more about IT industry such as the differences between front end and back end. GT also kindly shared their experience which encouraged the students to find their interests and future career path.
It was a great opportunity for them to get in touch with the actual working environment like routine operation of IT industry through this activity. All of the participants found the visit valuable and meaningful. Green Tomato (GT) is a Hong Kong based innovation consultancy that provided mobile application services to a variety of industries like KFC, Pizza Hut, HSBC, etc.

One Health @ CityU x France
In an age of globalisation, the world increasingly recognizes the complex and close interconnections between humans, animals and their environments. In order to best protect ourselves from disease outbreaks, it is imperative for professionals from all areas of expertise to coordinate on future initiatives using the One Health approach.
To tackle these pressing subjects, City University of Hong Kong, Campus France and the Consulate General of France, in partnership with four leading French higher education institutions (Grenoble Ecole de Management; ISC Paris; Nantes-Atlantic National College of Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Engineering; and Centrale Nantes), will organise two panels to discuss biotechnology and the contributions of veterinary medicine & engineering to the ”One Health” approach.
A focus on related new job opportunities, key skills for tomorrow’s One Health leaders and relevant academic training opportunities will be introduced throughout the debates and Q&A sessions.

Briefing Session to Teaching Assistants
A briefing session hosted by Prof Arindam Basu was delivered on 13 September 2021 to PhD students who will serve as Teaching Assistants (TA) for the Department in coming semesters.
It aims to outline scope of TA duties and expectation, departmental policy, and the needs of TA training during the PhD studies. PhD student with good TA performance was also invited to share with peers the good practices for carrying out TA duties.

Dialogue with Parents 2021
Support to Year-1 students on adapting to the university life is essential and family members play a role on it. Dialogue with Parents was held to let parents of Year-1 students know better about the university life, teaching and learning at EE Department and its support to students, as well as the career prospect.
We do hope that the information would facilitate parents to walk through the university journey with their children. Responses from parents were very encouraging, 90 some participants joined the parallel sessions hosted by Dr Andy Chan, Dr Leanne Chan and Prof Henry Chung on the day. Two graduates, Mr Kenni Mew (2012 CE graduate) and Miss Rica Ng (2020 INFE graduate), also joined us to share their learning experiences in EE and their career development to parents.

First EE Academic Staff Meeting in 2021/22
Right before the start of the new academic year 2021/22, all EE faculty gathered on 27 August 2021 for attending EE Academic Staff Meeting to discuss about teaching, research, and related matters that deemed necessary to take note of when planning for the new academic year.
During the meeting, special teaching arrangement under COVID situation, student learning support, laboratory safety and upcoming grant opportunities were highlighted and discussed.
