Prof Hong Yan, Wong Chung Hong Professor of Data Engineering and Chair Professor of EE, has been elected the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow 2021. He has been chosen for induction as he has demonstrated a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on the quality of life, economic development, and welfare of society.
The NAI was founded in 2010 to recognize and encourage inventors with patents issued from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, enhance the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encourage the disclosure of intellectual property, educate and mentor innovative students, and translate the inventions of its members to benefit society. The NAI Fellow program has 1,403 Fellows worldwide representing more than 250 prestigious universities and governmental and non-profit research institutes. Prof Yan has over 600 journal and conference publications and is actively engaging in research on image processing and computer vision, machine learning, and computational biology and medicine. He has recently been granted large funding by InnoHK for establishing the Center for Intelligent Multidimensional Data Analysis (CIMDA).
