Research Areas – Overview
Electrical Engineering is recognized as an area of strength at CityUHK in terms of international competitiveness. Achievements by EE faculty members have received international recognitions from a number of prestigious professional bodies and national academies. The department currently boasts:

Our excellence in research strengths and achievements have also enabled the establishments of a number of research centers including:
- State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves
- Centre for Chaos and Complex Networks
- Centre for Biosystems, Neuroscience, and Nanotechnology
- Centre for Smart Energy Conversion and Utilization Research
Notably, the State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves was established in 2008 with the support and approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC, as the only State Key Laboratory in Hong Kong in the engineering discipline.
