CityU-EE Smartone Joint Lab Sky100 5G Lab Visit was held on 10 May 2022. 24 EE faculty members and postgraduates students visited the famous Sky100 at the tallest building in Hong Kong, International Commerce Centre (ICC), and visited the Smartone 5G Lab. During the visit, 4 research seminars were conducted, with an Introduction to Private 5G Network at the CityU EE x SmarTone Joint Lab presented by EdgeNectar. Finally, a fruitful discussion between CityU-EE and Smartone was carried out to explore the long-term partnership and potential research directions.
The five lectures cover the topics in Nanotechnology and Nano devices, Antenna Design, Photonics, Power Electronics and Systems, Terahertz and Millimeter Waves, and Wireless Communications. The event was run virtual which attracted scholars and students across the world to join.

The judging team for final presentation was composed of three faculty members and three guests from the industry.

Electrical Engineering Student Chapter (EESC) is excited to inform you that the 2022 EE T-shirt Design Competition is around the corner! Let’s embrace EE with your creative ideas!

The sessions successfully attracted 172 student counts. By joining the sessions, students got more thorough understanding about the features and curriculums, learning opportunities, career prospects of graduates, comparison of majors, etc. of the three majors being presented by our Year 1 and Major Programme Leaders – Dr Sammy Chan (Year 1), Dr Yanni Sun (CDE), Dr Andy Chan (ELEL), and Prof H C So (INFE).
Before indicating choices of majors, it is a unique opportunity for year one students to learn more about the features, curriculums, learning opportunities, career paths of graduates, etc. of different majors. Apart from major talks, you can ask questions directly to the 3 major leaders. The event is highly recommended to all EE year one students.

The sessions aroused the interests of secondary students in EE, and showed how our EE undergraduate programmes prepare students for the future.
The Chairman registered a vote of thanks to all EE staff for their concerted and continuous effort on maintaining the teaching and research quality as well as the safety among the EE community under this special time.
Thanks to the active discussion among members who are experienced professionals in the EE field, constructive advices and suggestions were collected for strengthening the publicity to and recruitment of high school students, enhancing the development of teaching and research in the Greater Bay Area and the overall strategic development of the Department.
