CityUHK JUPAS Consultation Day will be held on 17 May 2025 (Saturday). The EE Department will offer a talk to introduce the learning exposure at EE and career opportunities in the field. Our faculty and students will also be around to offer advice or answer any questions you may have about studying at EE. Farewell Get-together for Three Long-serving Colleagues
A farewell get-together was held on 30 May 2022 to register department’s votes of thanks.
Some 60 colleagues participated in the event to render their warm wishes and recalled together many good memories. The event ended in wholesome laughter and heartwarming greetings.
City-EE is always open for EE friends to come back and visit us! Our best wishes to Peter, Sandy, and Candy for their new move in life! All the best!

Research Student Symposium 2022
Participants enjoyed the exchange with faculty members and the chance to know more about what other research students are doing. The day rounded off with invaluable conversations and encouragement.

Presentation of EE Graduate Research Seminar Awards
Three students were selected to be winners based on the rating of each presentation by faculty and students attending the seminars. Awards were presented to the following three winners at the Research Student Symposium held on 19 May 2022.
- 1st Prize: Mr GUO Chao for the presentation titled “Temperature-Aware Virtual Data Center Embedding”, supervised by Prof Moshe Zukerman
- 2nd Prize: Mr YANG Chenfeng for the presentation titled “A Terahertz Metasurface for Frequency-Controlled Bessel Beam Steering”, supervised by Prof C H Chan
- 3rd Prize: Miss ZHAO Xinran for the presentation titled “Random Access for Beyond-5G Networks: Connection-Free or Connection-Based”, supervised by Prof Lin Dai
CityU-EE Smartone Joint Lab Sky100 5G Lab Visit
CityU-EE Smartone Joint Lab Sky100 5G Lab Visit was held on 10 May 2022. 24 EE faculty members and postgraduates students visited the famous Sky100 at the tallest building in Hong Kong, International Commerce Centre (ICC), and visited the Smartone 5G Lab. During the visit, 4 research seminars were conducted, with an Introduction to Private 5G Network at the CityU EE x SmarTone Joint Lab presented by EdgeNectar. Finally, a fruitful discussion between CityU-EE and Smartone was carried out to explore the long-term partnership and potential research directions.
HKIAS Distinguished Lecture Series on Electronics and Photonics by 5 EE Faculty
The five lectures cover the topics in Nanotechnology and Nano devices, Antenna Design, Photonics, Power Electronics and Systems, Terahertz and Millimeter Waves, and Wireless Communications. The event was run virtual which attracted scholars and students across the world to join.

EE Major Allocation Information Sessions 2022
The sessions successfully attracted 172 student counts. By joining the sessions, students got more thorough understanding about the features and curriculums, learning opportunities, career prospects of graduates, comparison of majors, etc. of the three majors being presented by our Year 1 and Major Programme Leaders – Dr Sammy Chan (Year 1), Dr Yanni Sun (CDE), Dr Andy Chan (ELEL), and Prof H C So (INFE).
Major Allocation Information Sessions 2022
Before indicating choices of majors, it is a unique opportunity for year one students to learn more about the features, curriculums, learning opportunities, career paths of graduates, etc. of different majors. Apart from major talks, you can ask questions directly to the 3 major leaders. The event is highly recommended to all EE year one students.
