To prepare our freshmen for their studies here, EE is going to organize an intensive Student Orientation Programme with details as below.
Session for Undergraduate Student

2021 CityU JUPAS Virtual Consultation Day
Sharing Session on ITF Grant Application

A sharing session on Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) grant application was held on 29 April 2021. Prof Henry Chung (Chair Professor of EE), who has been successful in getting ITF grants over the years, shared with colleagues the key elements to consider when preparing ITF proposals and tips to seek for collaboration with industrial partners, on top of a brief introduction of the funding opportunities available from ITF.
EE Student Tutoring Scheme - Presentation of Awards
Students discuss problems and solve questions together during the weekly meeting throughout the semester. Apart from discussing academic matters, students also share and exchange their general experiences on personal development during university studies with their group mates at the meet-up.
To encourage active participation to the Scheme and to recognize outstanding performance of student tutors and tutees, Significant Improvement Award, Excellent Performance Award and Best Student Tutor Award are established. A prize presentation was held on 28 April 2021 to celebrate their achievement. Please check here for the list of award recipients. Congratulations!
EE Final Year Project Competition 2021
The judging team for final presentation was composed of three faculty members and three guests from the industry who had donated all the cash prizes for this competition.

Postgraduate Seminar: My Stories of Conducting Research as an Early-career Researcher
During the seminar, Dr Wang shared with students some his stories on research career development, in particular during his PhD years. His genuine sharing of facing ups and downs provided insights to students on how to plan for PhD study and how to conduct good and solid research work. The session rounded up with active discussion and full of encouragement.

Lion Rock Hike
They hiked from Lion Rock Country Park, climbed up to Amah Rock and finished this good exercise at Hung Mui Kuk. When situation allows, Department is ready to organize more this kind of get-together with EE students in all levels for networking and exchange.

EE Photography and Digital Art Competition

A total of 48 submissions were received. Congratulations to the following winners! Awards were presented to them by the judge panel, Professor Ben Leung, Dr. Chim Hung and Ms Jenny Lim, on 23 April 2021.

EE Student Chapter Company Visit
Students interacted with executives and employers to learn about relevant job opportunities, as well as gain insights from their iconic products. They actively asked questions during the visit to know more about the company and were excited by the job opportunities and the challenges ahead.

Major Allocation Information Sessions 2021
The sessions successfully attracted 196 student counts. By joining the sessions, students got more thorough understanding about the features and curriculums, learning opportunities, career prospects of graduates, comparison of majors, etc. of the three majors being presented by our Year 1 and Major Programme Leaders – Dr Sammy Chan (Year 1), Dr Yanni Sun (CDE), Dr Andy Chan (ELEL), and Prof H C So (INFE).
