CityU JUPAS Consultation Day 2024
CityU JUPAS Consultation Day will be held on 18 May 2024 (Saturday). The EE Department will offer a talk to introduce the learning exposure at EE and career opportunities in the field. Our faculty and students will also be around to offer advice or answer any questions you may have about studying at EE. Please do visit EE’s consultation counter to get a glimpse of Electrical Engineering.

Technology Expert Apple Communication Hubs (T.E.A.C.H.) Programme by HKACE
Out of 130 applicants, 30 teachers were selected to join the 4-day teacher training in March at CityU. During the opening ceremony, Prof Stella Pang, EE Head was delighted to share CityU EE as a hub for knowledge sharing between industry, professional organization, and high school network, she also highlighted the upcoming Education Bureau supported Gifted Education Fund (GEF) Project 2021.
EE Soft Skills Seminar – “Professor Says Series - Overcoming Adversity to Succeed in Life (克服逆境 邁向人生)”
Professor Chen shared how he found ways to jump over hurdles and get around roadblocks, so that they did not stop him from moving forward and he hoped his stories could shed some light onto positive thoughts of students when facing adversity in life. Students actively participated in the Q&A session after the seminar.
Award Presentation for EE T-shirt Design Contest 2020
A total of 39 submissions were received and 24 were shortlisted for voting among all EE undergraduate students. Congratulations to the following winners! Awards were presented to them by Mr Van Ting, EE Mentoring Scheme Coordinator, on 26 February 2021.

EE Honor Society Machine Learning Contest
The competition used ML to create a model that predicts if one has suffered from pneumonia with medical image processing and various ML techniques. The ranking was based on the average score given by our judge of faculty team including Dr. CHIU Bernard, Dr. SUN Yanni and Dr. YUAN Yixuan.

Farewell to Three Retiring Faculty
Unfortunately, farewell party could not be arranged given the COVID situation. Nevertheless, the Department has secured an occasion to honor their commitments and substantial contributions rendered to the Department and the University in the past 29 – 31 years, and a souvenir was presented to them as a token of thanks and appreciation. Our best wishes to them in their new page of life!

CityU Joint Lab with six world-renowned enterprises to promote innovative technology
President Way Kuo was delighted to witness the commencement of phase three of the joint laboratory project and hoped this will contribute to more innovative technologies in the future and help promote technology transfer and commercialisation to benefit our community.
Since its establishment in 2019, the CityU EE Joint Lab Programme has connected with a total of 16 CityU EE Joint Lab Partners. A series of cooperative and technical projects have been/will be launched with these partners.

Round Table Discussion on Teaching Philosophy
Winners of Outstanding Teacher Awards 2020, namely Dr Ray Cheung, Mr Van Ting, Dr Cheng Wang and Prof Moshe Zukerman, were invited to share their teaching philosophy and experiences with students. Important factors to effective teaching and learning, innovations in teaching, blended approach on programming education, etc., were discussed on the day.
Sharing on Effective Teaching
Ways for achieving simple, consistent and accurate marking and checking; how to make use of Canvas for efficient marking; and tips on improving teaching quality were shared. Some TAs were invited to share their teaching experiences as well. The talk ended with active discussion on effective teaching practices among participants.
Bridging EE Students/Faculty with Friends from Industry
The gatherings were very fruitful and constructive in a way that good exchanges on university-industry collaborative proposals were carried out for a number of career-related student projects and program, namely Design Projects, Industrial Attachment Scheme, Final Year Projects, Professional (one-year) Internship Program, Career Coaching, Dissertation, Summer Internship for MSc students, and University-Industrial 3+2 PhD Scheme. Opportunities on research activities with faculty were also explored.
