CityUHK EE Launches Joint Lab Phase 9 with Six Leading Enterprises

The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) successfully hosted the Joint Lab Phase 9 Ceremony on 8 January 2026, welcoming over 70 participants onsite and online. The event marked another milestone in the Joint Lab programme, which has been fostering academia–industry collaboration since 2019.
 
The ceremony was graced by Prof. C. K. Michael Tse, Associate Vice-President (Innovation) and Director of the CityU Academy of Innovation, alongside a welcome address by Prof. Z. Y. Dong, Head of EE. Prof. Dong highlighted the importance of internships in preparing students for professional careers, encouraging partners to continue offering opportunities that provide hands-on experience and industry exposure.

Phase 9 introduced six new partners: Changan, Iluvatar CoreX, Megmeet, Rivai, RVOH, and SenseTime, expanding the programme to 52 participating institutions. These collaborations will drive cooperative projects, knowledge transfer, and talent cultivation, reinforcing CityUHK’s mission to nurture innovation and excellence.
 
The event also spotlighted the CityUHK EE Strategic Research Centre and opportunities for enterprises to support through donations. Sengital Group shared their commitment to collaboration and working on a donation agreement with CityUHK EE.
