Programme Aims
The research degree programmes aim to provide advanced education to nurture students who can:
- contribute to the advancement of knowledge through independent and original research;
- demonstrate specialist subject knowledge and a high level of transferable skills, including analytical, communication and leadership skills; and
- enhance economic, social and cultural development.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Upon successful completion of this Programme, students should be able to:
- achieve general intellectual proficiency and specialization in their chosen subject areas;
- formulate the problems in their chosen subject areas and derive effective, innovative and original solutions to the problems;
- apply appropriate research methodology/tools to conduct independent research;
- communicate effectively with the learned community about the research process and findings; and
- create new knowledge through in-depth investigation of the chosen subject areas.
Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
Upon successful completion of this Programme, students should be able to:
- master the content and methods of their chosen subject areas;
- formulate the problems in their chosen subject areas and derive effective and original solutions to the problems;
- apply appropriate research methodology/tools to conduct independent research;
- communicate effectively with the learned community about the research process and findings; and
- contribute to knowledge through the process of research.
