A total of 23 projects entered semi-final of the competition which was a poster session. Six of them were immediately selected after the semi-final to compete in the final round held on the same day. Both semi-finalists and finalists were such professional and well-prepared to present their novel and innovative ideas in their project works to the judging panels and audiences.
The talk was facilitated by Dr Ray Cheung, EE Associate Professor.
Students grabbed every opportunity to introduce their research works to participants during the poster presentation session. This exchange platform also facilitated students to broaden their cross-disciplinary knowledge.
Break-out sessions were also arranged to let our students know more in-depth about the companies and the jobs, as well as facilitating the on-site applications.
Prof Boyd is the Samsung Professor of Engineering, in the Information Systems Laboratory, Electrical Engineering Department, Stanford University, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. His charisma and prestige in the field attracted over 300 people to his talk, with many sitting on the floor or standing for more than an hour.
Out of academic side, they had been to some famous landmarks in Taipei such as Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and National Palace Museum to taste the history and culture of Taipei.
Apart from individual presentation on our graduates, there were also prize presentation, graduate sharing session, tea reception for get-together and graduation photo taking. The graduates and professors tasted the many good collective memories that were communicated to all participating guests throughout the event.
Mr Lau was invited to be a guest speaker of a panel discussion, titled “Hong Kong Youths’ Local and Global Challenges: From Frustration to Inspiration & Innovation”, which was moderated by Prof Stella W Pang, Head of EE Department, on 4 October 2016.
Career advising is one of the emphases the Department specially put resources in. With the support from the industry, on 7 March 2016, delegates from renowned IT Companies were invited to give career talks on-campus to our final year undergraduate and master students.
