Gifted Education Fund

Edge AIoT and Microelectronics (EdgeAIoTM) Engineering Skills for Gifted Students

This 7-month programme teaches high school students essential knowledge and skills related to AI, IoT, edge computing, and microelectronics technologies. It also seeks to empower them with coding, engineering, and mathematics skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. These soft and hands-on skills will enable them to develop applications that can solve current and future world problems.

 

Intake: 50 students (Secondary 1-5, HKAGE member)
Programme Delivery Period: May 2025 - Dec 2025

EE teams achieved remarkable results at the 50 th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (IEIG), winning 5 awards, including one Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury, one Gold Medal, and three Silver Medals. Prof Hong Yan (Chair Professor of EE), Mr Zelin Li (PhD student), and Dr Jianfeng Cao (PhD graduate in 2021), have published a paper in the top journal – Nature Communications, on 18 April 2025. The paper titled " Cell lineage-resolved embryonic morphological map reveals signaling associated with cell fate and size asymmetry" is a collaborative work with scholars coming from Peking University and Hong Kong Baptist University. Miss XIE Tiantian (PhD student), supervised by Prof Rosa Chan, and Dr WANG Pengpai (Postdoc at SKLTMW), won the Best Student Paper Award at the 4th IEEE International Conference on Micro/Nano Sensors for AI, Healthcare, and Robotics (NSENS 2025). The winning paper is titled “Spatiotemporal Attention Learning Framework for Event-Driven Object Recognition”. The research work led by Prof Cheng Wang (Associate Professor) has been awarded China’s Top 10 Advances in Optics in the category of Applied Research which is organized by Chinese Laser Press.
