Prize Presentation for EE Programming Contest
Winners may be selected to join the ACM-HK Programming Contest 2023. Prizes were presented to them by Dr Albert Sung and Mr Van Ting, Departmental Coordinator of ACM-ICPC Competition, on 20 December 2022. Congratulations to the following winners!

Tai Tam Reservoir Hike
It was a fantastic time to meet with classmates and relax under the beauty of nature after the final examinations of Semester A 2022/23. This good physical exercise was rounded up with non-stop chit-chat and laughter.
EEHS Academic Workshop on Preparation for Postgraduate Applications in the United States
Both of the speakers had extensive academic and research experiences in renowned universities in the United States. They shared their valuable experiences and useful tips on document preparation, such as personal CV & Statement of Purpose (SOP), as well as other related information.
Briefing Session to Teaching Assistants
It aims to outline scope of TA duties and expectation, departmental policy, and the needs of TA training during the PhD studies. PhD students with good TA performance were also invited to share with peers the good practices for carrying out TA duties.
Career Journey Sharing Session And Interview Skills Roundtable Discussion
A career journey sharing session and interview skills roundtable discussion was held in mixed mode on 9 September 2022 to help students plan their career or job search and better prepare for job interviews. Over 30 students joined the session. It is our honor to invite five speakers from different disciplines in the industry to share their career stories. Each speaker, assisted by a student facilitator, hosted roundtable discussion in small groups of 5-6 students. Positive feedback were received, all the participants enjoyed the event, they found the information very useful and would recommend it to their friends.
EE Student Orientation 2022 – A Big Welcome to all EE New Students!
Various informative sessions were arranged to let students know more about the Department, the programme information, student learning support and graduate career outlook. Big welcome again and may we wish you all a wonderful and fulfilling journey with EE!

CityU EE Joint Lab Metaverse Career Fair 2022
Since CityU EE Joint Lab’s establishment in 2019, the CityU EE Joint Lab Programme has connected with a total of 28 CityU EE Joint Lab Partners. A series of cooperative and technical projects have been/will be launched with these partners. In order to support our partners for their talent acquisition, CityU EE organized the first metaverse career fair on 2nd June, 2022, 2:30-4:30pm.
The Virtual Career Fair was held on the Gather platform, a virtual scene that has delegated booths and zones for 8 CityU EE Joint Lab Partners to meet our EE students. Partners including ASTRI, Fujiflim, GP, LSCM, HKPC, Sengital, SmarTone and Suga joined this event. Around 50 people were in the Gather platform and each company had 12-15 interviews in this career fair.
Simulated Interview and Career Preparation Workshops
Participating students had to prepare their CVs for seeking consultation from career advisors of CLC. They were also divided into small groups of 4 – 5 students to have mock interviews, peer evaluation and debriefing under the coaching of CLC’s career advisors.
Presentation of EE Graduate Research Seminar Awards
Three students were selected to be winners based on the rating of each presentation by faculty and students attending the seminars. Awards were presented to the following three winners at the Research Student Symposium held on 19 May 2022.
- 1st Prize: Mr GUO Chao for the presentation titled “Temperature-Aware Virtual Data Center Embedding”, supervised by Prof Moshe Zukerman
- 2nd Prize: Mr YANG Chenfeng for the presentation titled “A Terahertz Metasurface for Frequency-Controlled Bessel Beam Steering”, supervised by Prof C H Chan
- 3rd Prize: Miss ZHAO Xinran for the presentation titled “Random Access for Beyond-5G Networks: Connection-Free or Connection-Based”, supervised by Prof Lin Dai
Research Student Symposium 2022
Participants enjoyed the exchange with faculty members and the chance to know more about what other research students are doing. The day rounded off with invaluable conversations and encouragement.
