Excellent Product Awards at 16th China Hi-Tech Fair

Two EE professors have won the Excellent Product Awards at the 16th China Hi-Tech Fair. Currently, it is the largest and most influential scientific and technological fair in China and is renowned as “the No.1 Technology Show in China”. 

  • "Dielectric Microstrip Line for Millimeter Wave and Terahertz"  by Prof XUE Quan
  • "Small Antenna for Emerging Mobile Communications"  by Dr WONG Hang



Prof H C So has been elected FIEEE
Prof H C So has been elected Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

Prof H C So, Associate Professor of EE, has been elected Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE) 2015 for his outstanding contributions to spectral analysis and source localization. EE Department now boosts 14 IEEE Fellows.

Professor Ron Chen Guanrong, Chair Professor of EE, was elected Member of Academia Europaea (the Academy of Europe) in August 2014, under the section Physics & Engineering Sciences.

Academia Europaea, founded in 1988, is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy. Its members are scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education and research.  Membership is by invitation only and follows a rigorous peer review selection process. Current membership stands at around 2,800 and amongst them are fifty-two Nobel Laureates.

Prof Ron Chen Guanrong has been conferred Honorary Doctorate by the University of Le Havre

Professor Ron Chen Guanrong was conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Doctoris Honoris Causa) by the University of Le Havre, Normandy, France on 26 June 2014, for his significant contributions in scientific research on complexity and chaos theories as well as complex networks. This is the second of such prestigious awards Professor Chen had received, while the first one was conferred by the Saint Petersburg State University, Russia in 2011.

Sichuan Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award 2013 – 1st Class

Prof K S Chiang, Chair Professor of EE, has been conferred Sichuan Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award 2013 – 1st Class (四川省科學技術進步獎一等獎) by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government for his contributions to the Study of the Sensing Mechanisms and Methods with Microstructures in Optical Fibers (光纖波導微結構的傳輸機理與方法研究). The award is a result of his long-term collaboration with the University of Electronic Science and Technology (電子科技大學) and Chongqing University (重慶大學).
