An EE team, comprising Miss Wei Yang (PhD student), Mr Wang Hao (PhD student), Mr Liu Yucheng (PhD student) and Mr Lee Yo-che (INFE student), has won the Work of Excellence Award in the region of Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR in The Council of the Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS) Communication Prize - High Potential Innovation Prize in China 2021. The winning project, supervised by Dr K F Tsang, is titled “Internet of Things Maturity Index (IDex) – IoT Michelin: Best Practices”.

School of Creative Media (SCM) Faculty Awards are presented annually. I’m excited to share with you a good news that Prof K S Chiang has won the SCM Service Award 2021 for his dedication and substantial contribution to maintaining and improving the standards of the School through serving the School Staffing Committee and the School Performance Assessment Committee for 10 years, and recently as the outside member on the ACIM Fellowship Committee. Prof Chiang has been actively performing various administrative duties at college and university levels.

Prof Arindam Basu has been selected as honoree in the 40 Under 40 Program by Georgia Tech Alumni Association. The program, which has been launched since 2020, aims to recognize the achievements of Georgia Institute of Technology alumni who innovated industries and positively impacted communities across the globe while under the age of 40. Forty distinguished honorees are selected each year and Prof Basu is one of the forty honorees in 2021.

Miss LEUNG Ching Yee Angel (ECE graduate 2021) has won the Gold Award in ASM Technology Award 2021. The winning project, supervised by Dr Steve Wong, is called “Design of a Wideband antenna with beam steering for sub-6 band of 5G”. ASM Technology Award has been established since 2016. It aims to recognize and reward students with outstanding Final Year Projects which demonstrate excellence in technology and innovation
